Unfortunately, if you design a lackluster menu, your guests might not be tempted to try some of your best dishes. In my twenty years in the restaurant business, I have made some mistakes and had more than a few successes. I want to share the things with you that really work, so that you can enjoy your early days as a restaurant owner. Operating a restaurant is hard, but by heeding the right advice, you can enjoy the journey.

The Caribbean consists of multiple different countries, all with different culinary traditions. If you want to really enjoy Caribbean cuisine, you need to try out numerous different dishes to get an idea of what this area of the world has to offer in terms of food.   

Goat Stew

One common type of seafood in the Caribbean is conch, a big sea snail that hangs out inside a big, beautiful shell. The meat is a staple that is used in a variety of different dishes. You can find it in stews, soups, and salads. Look for something with a conch in the ingredient list and try out this delicious seafood.   

Pepperpot  

Next, you are going to want to try a pepperpot. A pepperpot is a stew that is made in a big, huge pot and is popular throughout the Caribbean, with many different regional differences. This is a thick stew that is full of various ingredients, such as potatoes, squash, okra, and aubergine. It generally includes some type of meat, with the most common type of meat being beef. Generally, dumplings are added to the dish to add a little extra texture and taste. This is a dish with a lot of variation.   

Roast Pork  

Another dish you should try out is a roast pork dish. Roast pork dishes are most common on Caribbean islands with a Spanish influence, such as Cuba. The pork is simmered, creating meat that is juicy, soft, and full of flavor. It is often roasted and cooked on the ground. It is usually served with other foods, such as rice, beans, and plantains. It is a hearty dish that is full of flavor.
